NATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR VETERANS AND ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY MEMBERS

All persons who have served honorably in the United States military, Reserves or Coast Guard, including those on active duty, and their family members, are encouraged to consider joining this diverse group of like-minded men and women.

In July 30, 2019 a bill was signed that declared the United States has been in a state of war since Dec. 7, 1941.

Now that the legislation has been signed, the American Legion’s eligibility criteria immediately changed from seven war eras to two:



If you are currently on active duty, serving the United States honorably, anywhere in the world, or have served honorably during any of the eligible war eras, we invite you to become a member of The American Legion, Post 828.    

• April 6, 1917 to Nov. 11, 1918​, and
• Dec. 7, 1941 to Today

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF POST 828

1.  Download the fillable American Legion Membership Application, read and complete it.    
2.  Send the completed Application Form, along with the following items to the address below:

• your check or money order for the first year dues [$41] (Do not send cash!)
• and, a copy of your DD-214 (or Coast Guard equivalent)
• OR, if on active duty, a copy of your current orders
